Palm and kennel oil key stakeholders from the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, MPOB, FGV, Sime Darby, Responsible Palm Oil Initiative and many more will converge remotely over the 2nd Future-proofed Palm Oil Summit held from 23 – 24 November 2021, to discuss on strategies and practical approaches to dismantle barriers and revitalise preferences of the palm oil industry.
Palm oil is highly versatile and proses many benefits. It presents in more than 50% of the processed foods and in many other products. It is an incredibly efficient crop as it has a better yield per hectare and require less fertiliser and pesticides than other alternative oils.
All these advantages made palm oil a very important commodity for many industries and for the international markets as well. It means a lot to the producing economies from the aspect of revenue and livelihood of millions people in the producing countries.
Sadly, the palm oil industry has been constantly under trade discrimination with the name of ‘sustainability’. The only way for the palm oil industry to ward off such decimations is to clean its name with more proactive and aggressive actions in sustainable productions – towards net-zero production, embrace automation and digitalisation to increase efficiency and increase transparency and traceability.
It is a high time for the palm oil industry to get together to flip the switch on the trade barriers. It is with this objective that the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology and Confexhub Group have come together to host the second edition of Future-proofed Palm Oil Summit 2021, gathering the key stakeholders of the palm and kennel oil industry for in-depth discussion in dismantling the trade barriers and offers strategies and approaches for the industry to achieve net-zero and greater automation and digitalisation.
The 2-half-day virtual conference will be graced open by the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, YB Datuk Hajah Zuraida binti Kamaruddin remotely. With over 20 paper presentations under the selected theme ‘Dismantling Barrier, Revitalising Preference’ the virtual conference will focus on strategies and approaches to reimagining the palm and kennel oil economy and look into new innovations and technologies in moving towards net-zero production. Among the renowned speakers are from MPIC, MPOB, MPOCC, Responsible Palm Oil Initiative, FGV, Sime Darby, IChemE Palm Oil Processing Special Interest Group, Heriot-Watt University, Control Union and many more.
