THE i-City Finance Avenue is expected to be a catalyst for the wider tourism industry and economic space in Selangor with a total gross development value of RM1.5 billion.
I-Bhd chief technology and ED Ricky Lim said the 3.01ha venue functions as a financial hub and preferred destination that allows financial institutions, support services and multinational corporations to relocate and operate smoothly.
He said with the smart technology infrastructure comprising an integrated certified Tier-3 data centre, Super Artificial Intelligence (AI) Network and dual fibre network provided by i-City, guests are assured of an excellent connectivity experience.
“i-City smart technology infrastructure will boost the attractiveness of DoubleTree by Hilton, where clients can enjoy the latest technological innovation seamlessly.
“It is also set to benefit from our plan for i-City to be the next generation smart city, which will place i-City among the most efficient, sustainable and prosperous cities.
“We expect the finance avenue to attract not only financial institutions to set up offices, but also to be part of its tourism attraction in raising the next generation AI smart city to a higher level,” he said at the unveiling of i-City Finance Avenue today.
He added that with the partial relocation of Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) headquarters into i-City in April this year, i-City had achieved an 83% take-up rate for the smart corporate tower which was renamed Mercu Maybank.
Lim said the development progress of the entire building is currently at 40% and it will be completed by the end of 2025. The building will be home to DoubleTree by Hilton, Mercu Maybank, Be Sentral Apartment, i-City Convention Centre and a retail outlet.
Meanwhile, I-Bhd chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong said the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton with 300 rooms underscores Hilton Worldwide Holdings’ commitment to introducing world-class brands to i-City Finance Avenue.
“We are committed to continuously contribute to the Selangor economy and further strengthen the tourism industry.
“Moreover, this strong symbiotic relationship will add value to the western corridor of Selangor in driving high-value tourist receipts, especially from business travellers through world-class meeting, incentives, conferencing and exhibition initiatives,” he said.
