GEORGE TOWN – Penang has recorded an achievement of 47% with the implementation of 210 projects and programmes in the five-year period after the launch of Penang 2030 Vision.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that going forward, the state government leadership would remain committed to dignifying the state on the world stage with excellence to ensure that the Penang 2030 Vision is realised.
“As previously announced, the Penang 2030 Vision has four main themes supported by 16 strategic initiatives and in terms of achievements, a total of 210 projects and programmes have been and are being carried out.
“They include efforts to accelerate digital transformation, build resilience, use data efficiently, focus more on meeting people’s needs, empower youth, women and children communities, build global economic linkages for the electrical and electronics industry, ensure public safety and health, attract talent, resource efficiency and foster gender inclusion,” he said in a statement today.
In tracing the launch of the Penang 2030 Vision: A People-centric Smart and Green State That Inspires the Nation on August 29, 2018, he said it was conceived as a development master plan with four main themes involving the people of Penang.
Chow, who is also Batu Kawan MP, said that Theme A increases liveability (affordable homes, welfare aid), Theme B upgrades the economy (to increase household income), Theme C empowers the people (more community participation), and Theme D invests in the physical environment (infrastructure, spatial planning).
He said the state government stays committed to continuing its strategy to realise the Penang 2030 Vision in the remaining seven years.
“I am very confident that the state leadership will be able to do it, as was proven in the previous challenge of combating the Covid-19 pandemic with the support of all parties,” he said.
