Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) in collaboration with Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has organised “Smart Grid Webinar: Smart Grid Driving Smart and Sustainable Cities?” on 25 March 2021.
Way back in September 2020, Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) in collaboration with Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), TNB Research Sdn Bhd (TNBR) and Perbadanan Teknologi Hijau Melaka (PTHM) has organized a Smart Grid Awareness & Demonstration Project in Melaka.
Apart from UNITEN, TNBR and PTHM, MIGHT also collaborates with other strategic partners such as Energy Commission, SEDA Malaysia, SIRIM, SKMM, MGTC, Department of Standards Malaysia, KETSA, KPKT and the industry namely First Solar Malaysia Sdn Bhd and System Consultancy Services Pte Ltd.
This smart grid project includes four main components, namely the development of regulatory framework & input to government policy, human capital capacity development program, awareness raising campaign and demonstration project to be held in Melaka. The Smart Grid Demonstration Project starting from 2020 to 2022 will involve online integration of existing sustainable energy technologies in Melaka which includes the generation and use of renewable energy such as small and large scale solar systems, vehicle charging stations and electric vehicles, batteries, energy efficient buildings, smart electricity meters and so on to achieve the goal of reducing Greenhouse Gases emission while supporting the development of a Sustainable City through sustainable energy projects.
The overall objective of this Smart Grid Webinar is to provide audience with an opportunity to learn more about the importance of Smart Grid in driving the nation building towards smart and sustainable city. This session also covered on providing listeners with information on the Smart Grid and engage with the experts on best practices within their social context and knowledge sharing on smart grid best practices by expertise and benefits to consumers.
